Mechanized Death is one of classic early drivers safety education movies. It was produced in 1961 by the Ohio State Patrol and Highway Safety Foundation and Safety Enterprises, Inc.
It was one of the first, if not the first, driver education movie to use movie cameras at actual collision scenes to record the post crash carnage. Today, live action video is routine but in 1961 it was revolutionary and Mechanized Death set the standard for this kind of video for years afterwards. It was still being shown in schools in the 1980’s.
